San Leon Fire was called by Texas City Fire Department to assist with a large trash fire in a remote location. With no nearby hydrants, water supply was a major challenge. To avoid tying up multiple Texas City units, San Leon VFD responded with our tanker and engine, bringing 4,000 gallons of water to support their efforts. Texas City had 500 gallons on their truck, plus another 250 from their booster, and we added another 400 from ours.
With all hands working together and the critical help of one of our local residents who brought in an excavator to help break apart the pile, we were able to get the fire under control and fully extinguished.
This is a great example of mutual aid, inresourcefulness, and community support coming together to protect lives and property.
