San Leon VFD was dispatched to a structure fire. Upon arrival, we found one resident with a serious burn to his hand. The fire was located in a front bedroom and quickly extinguished before spreading further. Mutual aid from Bacliff VFD was en route as a backup, but thankfully, the fire was controlled in time.

After investigating the cause, we found that a space heater had been placed too close to a bed, igniting the fire. This serves as a critical reminder: always keep heaters at least three feet away from flammable materials like bedding, furniture, and curtains.

We’re grateful this incident didn’t escalate further, but it could have been much worse. Stay safe, and please remember to use heaters responsibly!
