| The San Leon Volunteer Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a school bus and a passenger vehicle. San Leon Command and Tanker 1 arrived at the scene and found a white four-door sedan with moderate front-end damage, along with damage to the passenger-side rear area of the school bus.
Thankfully, there were no students on the school bus at the time of the incident. The only occupants were the bus driver and a bus monitor. Crews quickly assessed all individuals involved in the accident.
One person from the sedan was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Incidents like this highlight the importance of ongoing training and preparation for any situation. If students had been present on the school bus, responders could have faced a mass-casualty incident involving multiple pediatric patients. Training, preparation, communication, and fast patient assessment are essential when every second counts.
The San Leon Volunteer Fire Department demonstrated a safe and professional response. Continuous training ensures the community can depend on responders to be ready for any emergency. |
