| Around midnight, while most people were asleep, San Leon Fire Department responded to a call for a two-vehicle major accident with possible injuries.
San Leon Rescue 1 and Booster 1 were dispatched immediately. Upon arrival, smoke was coming from one of the vehicles, raising the risk of the accident escalating into a vehicle fire. Booster 1 prepared for fire suppression as crews worked to secure the scene, check the occupants, and assist with patient care.
One patient was transported to a local hospital with reported minor injuries.
Initial information from the scene indicated that a stop sign normally located on 28th Street was not present. The exact circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
This is why training is essential. Not just when it is convenient, not just during daylight, and not only when someone is watching.
At midnight, at 2:00 AM, during dinner, family time, or a work night, when the emergency tones sound, our members respond.
Vehicle crashes can become fires in seconds, and minor injuries can turn into serious emergencies without warning. The community relies on firefighters who are trained, equipped, and ready to address any situation.
San Leon Fire Department remains prepared and ready when the community needs help most. |
